The key ancillary supplier gets 64% of new product inquiries at the show

Pune-based Becker India, a vacuum and pneumatic equipment manufacturer ,  participated in PrintPack India 2022 for the first time after becoming fully operational in the country. Becker’s headquarter is in Wuppertal , Germany, and it has 21 subsidiaries globally including four in Germany. Apart from the products and expertise, it offers through these, it has many agencies with highly trained engineering services.

Becker produces screw, claw, and radial vacuum pumps, roots booster pumps, rotary vane compressors, and side channel blowers. Becker has an annual turnover of Euros 200 million. Its Indian subsidiary is headquartered in Bhukum, Pune has a service center, testing facility, demo cum training room, and warehouse.

At the recently concluded PrintPack India 2022, Becker India displayed vacuum/pressure combined pumps and original spare parts mainly for paper and board feeders and special applications in printing machines, bookbinding, lamination, stapling, collating, and folding. The company has great domain expertise and technology for printing and binding and packaging converting equipment, and the paper converting industry.

As digitalization impacts the industry, the integration of devices that produce digital signals or information in machines enables the intelligent use of the data generated when it is shared over the network or cloud. This level of connectivity delivers transparency from the components and machines and brings field-level observation, work, and even preventive maintenance to the cloud. Thus, Becker’s new and technological-driven vacuum pumps are not only energy-efficient, compact, and silent, but their connectivity maximizes production output and minimizes maintenance costs.

Vacuum pumps and compressors play a part in vacuum fixing, like fixing or firmly positioning printing plates in exposure units and CtP systems and fixing printing and paper products on cutting tables and screen printing machines. Vacuums and blowers also play an essential role in pick and place – feeding and transporting paper sheets in offset presses and also in blowing and ejecting – in fanning out and singling the paper sheets in feeders for movement and processing, and for the generation of air cushions to protect printed products.

“A vacuum pump is the heart of any machine. Knowing about the most reliable product for this purpose is essential, which gives you peace of mind. People are investing in more reliable and good quality products, and it’s not only based on price criteria. Importance is given to improving the process and efficiency and bringing in more and more automation,” said Milind Bhalerao, chief executive officer of Becker India.

At PrintPack India 2022, the company received a positive response from visitors. “We have received an overwhelming response from the visitors. Among the inquiries at the show – approximately 64%, were for the new products that we displayed. The inquiries responses will be closed very soon,” he added.

Bhalerao also noted that when the Covid-19 pandemic struck the global township disastrously, Becker too faced many supply chain challenges. Freight was delayed at times by three to four months, and there was a sharp increase in transportation costs.

The Covid-19 pandemic led to the country-wide lockdown on 25 March 2020. It will be two years tomorrow as I write this. What have we learned in this time? Maybe the meaning of resilience since small companies like us have had to rely on our resources and the forbearance of our employees as we have struggled to produce our trade platforms.

The print and packaging industries have been fortunate, although the commercial printing industry is still to recover. We have learned more about the digital transformation that affects commercial printing and packaging. Ultimately digital will help print grow in a country where we are still far behind in our paper and print consumption and where digital is a leapfrog technology that will only increase the demand for print in the foreseeable future.

Web analytics show that we now have readership in North America and Europe amongst the 90 countries where our five platforms reach. Our traffic which more than doubled in 2020, has at times gone up by another 50% in 2021. And advertising which had fallen to pieces in 2020 and 2021, has started its return since January 2022.

As the economy approaches real growth with unevenness and shortages a given, we are looking forward to the PrintPack India exhibition in Greater Noida. We are again appointed to produce the Show Daily on all five days of the show from 26 to 30 May 2022.
